Connect Your Communications & Your Network

So, what if you are sold on the idea that maintaining your professional network is valuable, but the last thing you need is more emails or more e-connection tasks?  Well, the increasing field of people who are part of the social networking boom in the technology sector are coming to the rescue.  Professional networking tools like LinkedIn now communicate with email management tools like Xobni to allow you to prioritize your mail and facilitate engagement of your network.

More importantly, these tools help you to learn about yourself and your partners.  With whom do you have the most communication which might be more efficient over the phone?  To whose emails do you most quickly respond?  Who do you know in common with some of your other colleagues?  Who are the colleagues who can most quickly help you to recruit an employee, sell your services or partner on an upcoming project?    The answers to all of these questions can be much more easily discerned with tools like these.

Dovetailing your network with your communication processes adds plenty of power and allows you to guide them to work for YOU.

What Constitutes Genius of the Future?

Much has been written  about the culturally-accepted idea of the "great man theory" postulated by Thomas Carlyle in the 19th century and debated since then.  Under that theory, great change happens, great discoveries are made and great accomplishments are achieved through the leadership, effort and insight of a few great men and women.  To a great degree, many 20th century movements have been built upon this idea and some would argue that our current education system is designed to identify and promote the individuals most likely to achieve "greatness".

Malcolm Gladwell, author of the thought-provoking must-read books The Tipping Point and Blink, recently gave a presentation in New York on the roots of genius in the 21st century which theorizes that the great discoveries and accomplishments of the future will be largely made through the effort of committed individuals who work collaboratively to build upon the ideas and insights of each other.  Watch this thought provoking presentation by visiting our Dovetailing Home Page.

Dovetailing Launches

Through the years we have been guided, nurtured and inspired by people in human services and philanthropy that see the value of collaboration.  As we launch Dovetailing LLC, a consulting firm that seeks to support others in connecting their people, perspectives and processes to achieve quantum leaps, we do so with great gratitude for the support we have received professionally and personally.

We hope that this blog provides a place for seeding and debating ideas and wrestling with and celebrating the personal, organizational and collaboration challenges and epiphanies inherent in trying to move quickly and potently.

We hope that you will engage in conversation and the "marination" of ideas. .
